Are they open year round??
Came here on a rainy Friday for lunch. Service was excellent and quick and we sat out on the covered back porch. Got the lobster roll with coleslaw and classic Cape Cod chips. Would recommend!
MoreI constantly arrive getting some food in this place. I loved the quick customer service and well cooked food. 5 stars.
MoreEnjoying a beer on the deck watching the sunset is a small piece of heaven
You are paying for the view...Food: On a scale of 1-10,(ten being the best) I would give this place a 2. For the money, one should expect a heck of a lot more. Basic dishes, no flavor, and severely overpriced. If you are a restaurant on Cape, and can't pull off the most basic of all meals (fish and chips), then you need to reassess who you have working in the kitchen.Drinks: Over priced, full of ice and watered down, and oh yeah...expect them to come in a plastic solo cup (fun!).Staff: Check your bill, they like to tip themselves in the event that you under tip them for a poor experience.Recommendation: Avoid this place, there are plenty of other options near by that will give you a much better experience, and won't leave you feeling like you just got ripped off.
MoreGood servive & good variety (menu). Nice location on the water!! Very enjoyable evening!
MoreGreat to sit outside on the grass, plate on your lap, Maya dog laying at your feet and watch the sunset over the water!
MoreGreat food w a view.
Pricey but delicious
Solid lobster roll and good clam chowder. Not the best I've ever had but definitely good
MoreWe love stopping here. The views are wonderful as are the wait staff and the food is always good. This night it better than usual.
MoreVery bland lobster roll...service was excellent and kids meals were perfect sizes.
MoreBeautiful views and great drinks and food!
Went on a suggestion. Cute little hideaway, nice staff, seated quickly. Porch and lawn seating with a beautiful view. Casual atmosphere and good drinks. Try it!
MoreLots of deep fried stuff, but really tasty. Heavy to local seafood. Great fresh oysters. Scallops are awesome. Service is excellent. No draft beer, but good canned beer selection. A hidden gem.
MoreEverything is wonderful...food, drinks, service, location, prices. Do yourself a favor and go
MoreHad a great lunch with a great friend on my first visits to the Summer Shanty in West Dennis on Cape Cod on the last Saturday in July. We sat on the deck looking out over the tables on the lawn and onto the docks, taking advantage of the shade while not losing the benefit of the continuous cooling breeze..My lunch mate is a boater and was able to point out a lot of interesting happenings on the water taking place before our eyes. The food and drinks were great, too, served by excellent waitress Danielle, who I never saw as she served us from the back..The most industrious worker I observed was the self-confessed oldest busboy on the Cape, Dan, owner for ten years, he told me, of the Shanty..Thanks, Dan and Danielle, the D-Team, for making this both a wonderful meal and a great experience. Hope to see you here, my Trip Advisor reader, next time I am here.
MoreJust drinks, but lovely atmosphere and.comfy charis
A very charming place. The food was excellent, the service was good and I absolutely enjoyed it's location by the water.
MoreWay overpriced. $35 for what was supposed to be a large lobster roll, but turned out to be quite small. I think they bait and switched me - gave me a small but charged me for a large. There are much better options in the area - Sesuit Harbor cafe, Dennis Public Market. Stay away from the Summer Shanty unless you don't mind getting ripped off.
MoreNice. Good food, reasonable prices and very friendly service. Lovely view on a nice day!
MoreOut door seating by the water, delicious food. Great service
My puppy loved it
The atmosphere was great—right on the marina and lots of spacious seating. Also dog friendly on the lawn! Our service was exceptional and the food was good. My husband loved his fish & chips! I had the fried clams which I’d give a 7/10. The breading wasn’t as flaky as I like it, but worth a visit for sure even if you just go for the Tuesday raw bar specials.
MoreThe worse service ever, had lunch then wanted some oysters from raw bar, was told we needed to move to lower level where Adirondack chairs were located with no umbrellas or shade wad told they needed my table for dinner guests. Waited 2 hrs was ignored by everyone there were at least 11 tables no one was sitting at, never treated so poorly, evidently all lives do not matter, I will never be back
MoreGreat fried food
Haddock sandwich is yummy. Dog friendly, outside!
Nice setting. Relaxed. Food just average
Great atmosphere,food,drinks,waitress,I'll be back
We had a great lunch at the Summer Shanty! There was a short wait for a table but we were able to sit in some open Adirondack Chairs and order a drink while we waited. We got a shaded table on the deck and had some delicious fried seafood. The service was great and prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back this summer!
MoreBasic menu but good, great place to sit by the water with the doggos.
Dramatic setting. Great fried clams
Right on the harbor marina. The outdoor seating provides nice view of the boats and the water. Seafood is fresh and good. Good beer list and if you order beer in a can, you get a free coozie! Different color every season so collect 'em all. Service is usually exceptionally good and attentive.
MoreSat out on the deck overlooking the marina and the river. The view and atmosphere were both great. Our server was excellent. There when you wanted her but not hovering. Very patient and friendly. Steamers were good but a little sandy. At our table we had a clam roll, tons of clams on a nicely toasted roll. Scallop roll with scallops that were perfectly prepared and tasted like candy. Skip the chicken wings. Generic frozen type. Out of character compared to all of the other fresh food that we had. The cheeseburger was overcooked but otherwise very good. We really enjoyed our lunch and will be back.
MoreFor a cape seafood stop, selection was limited and helpings smaller. Great harbor location and drink selection though.
MoreWhat a great place to hang with friends! The drinks were served quick and food was great. We really enjoyed the live music that they played outside if you didn't want to go in.
MoreGreat time... grest place to spend with friends. 😉
Great place for a casual dinner or drinks and watching the sun go down over the marina!
MoreGreat place for a drink food not so much. Plan on spending a ton of money for tiny tiny portions. Fish sandwich with chips is 16.99 outrageous.
MoreFood and staff was good but a little pricey considering I got the same fish dinner (lobster, steamers, and corn on the cob) at the Wooden Shoe for about $10.00 less. And the Wooden Shoe tasted a little better as well. Can't beat sitting by the water at the Summer Shanty though. Is that worth the extra $10.00 bucks, maybe for some.
MoreThis is an amazing place to sit and overlook the water as you watch the sunset. Too bad the food is an afterthought. The food is far too average for the expensive price tag, especially considering it's served on paper plates with plastic utensils. This place is popular with the 50-60 year old crowd. The view is much better than the food.
MoreFound by chance & glad we did! Four men at bar doing mudslides so asked for same. Great batch of steamers too. Nice spot!👍
MoreFair experience. Clam strips were average. Decent pour on vodka cocktail.
My God. What a hidden treasure. It's before/after sundancers in the marina. Tremendous views. Great apps and drinks.
MoreExpensive especially for paper plates and plastic dinner ware.
Okay food. Everything is served on paper plates and plastic cups. Seafood average for Cape Cod.
MoreWere there for happy hour oysters and were very pleased with the oysters beer and promptness of service. Very acommodating .
MoreAwesome experience. Sat outside right by the water. Service was fantastic. We only had apps and drinks but the crab cakes were amazing and the chicken fingers were good as well. Our waitress was really attentive and pleasant. Could not have been happier.
MoreNothing special. Nice place by a Marina. Food was ok. Ordered one beer but they bought a different one...no big deal but I was hoping to taste the one I ordered. The lobster rolls are too pricey for the taste and the burgers are not too bad. They do have and option to switch french fries for a bag of cape cod potatoe chips, which is a plus 😊...but if you want to have a drink by a Marina/water, great place for that...
MoreI really loved this little gem, recommended by someone we met from Denis. Tucked away next to a boat dock that you can access from the Bass river (you can pull right up if you have a boat and get a beer). I got the lobster roll which was a good portion. My boys each got the whole belly clam rolls. My wife got the steamers. All was fresh, well prepared and reasonably priced. The view, atmosphere and service really made this along with the first rate food at a decent price. Skip the more well known place and seek out this place!!Make sure to take a beer cozy on the way out.
MoreGood food and excellent view of BassRiver and docks.
